I was named as one of the Black Female Achievers in Black Achievement Month 2018, and I am flattered! To be a called an example for other people is a great honour and I hope to be an example for a long time. I worked hard to get where I am, and thus I am sure other girls and women of colour can get there too. The commission has chosen me based on my work as an independent curator, as founder of MAFB and as founder and curator of OSCAM. I gave a speech of ten minutes about my youth, my work as a 24/7 caretaker of my mentally challenged brother, and the power of my mother. The public was quiet and in tears. Thank you for giving me this amazing shoutout!
